Implant-supported bridges are an advanced dental treatment method used to replace one or more missing teeth. This system works by fixing bridge prostheses onto dental implants placed in areas where there are missing teeth. Unlike traditional bridges, implant-supported bridges offer a stable and aesthetic solution without the need to cut natural teeth or use them as bridge abutments. When implant-supported bridges are placed in place of your missing teeth, both a natural appearance is achieved and chewing and speaking functions are restored.

Advantages of Implant-Supported Bridges

  1. Natural Appearance and Aesthetics: Implant-supported bridges perfectly mimic the aesthetics of natural teeth. Gaps between teeth are eliminated and your smile is aesthetically corrected.
  2. Functional Solutions: Implant-supported bridges restore chewing and speaking functions. In this way, difficulties that may be experienced during eating and speaking are eliminated.
  3. Protection of Teeth: In traditional bridges, neighboring teeth are used as bridge abutments and must be cut. In implant-supported bridges, neighboring teeth are protected, so the structure of your natural teeth is not damaged.
  4. Long-Lasting and Durable: Implant-supported bridges are sturdy and durable. They offer a dental solution that can be used for a lifetime with proper care. Implants provide high stability by integrating with the bone and ensure that bridge prostheses remain securely in place.
  5. Preventing Bone Loss: Following tooth loss, the jawbone may melt over time. Implant-supported bridges prevent this melting by placing the implants within the bone and help preserve the jaw structure.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Patients with One or More Missing Teeth: For patients with more than one missing tooth, implant-supported bridges are an ideal solution to replace missing teeth.
  • Patients Who Want Neighboring Teeth to Be Protected: Patients who do not want neighboring teeth to be cut or who want to preserve the solid structure of these teeth can achieve this desire with implant-supported bridges.
  • Patients with Sufficient Bone Density: Patients with adequate bone density in the area where the implants will be placed may benefit from implant-supported bridges. However, patients with insufficient bone density may require additional surgery (such as bone grafting) to place implants.

Treatment Process

  1. Initial Examination and Evaluation: Treatment begins with a detailed examination and evaluation. The dentist evaluates the structure of your jawbone and the health of your gums. At this stage, the areas where the implants will be placed are determined and a treatment plan is created.
  2. Placement of Implants: Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. After the implants are placed, it takes a few months for them to fuse with the bone. Temporary prosthetics can be used during this time.
  3. Healing of Implants and Construction of Bridges: After the implants have completely integrated with the bone, measurements are taken and bridge prostheses are prepared. These bridges are fixed onto the implants and final checks are made.
  4. Final Checks and Maintenance: After the treatment is completed, it is possible to ensure long-term use of implant-supported bridges with regular checks and dental care. Your dentist will give you the necessary information about the care of bridges and implants.
