Implant-supported dentures are dentures that sit on dental implants placed in the jawbone in cases of complete or partial tooth loss. This treatment method offers a much more stable and comfortable solution compared to traditional dentures. Implant-supported dentures can be applied to both the lower and upper jaws and greatly improve the patient’s chewing, speaking and smiling functions. These dentures are fixed by implants and can be used safely without problems such as slipping or moving.

Advantages of Implant-Supported Dentures

  1. Stability and Comfort: Implant-supported dentures do not move or shift because they are supported by dental implants. This provides more confidence and comfort while eating, speaking and smiling.
  2. Natural Appearance and Function: Implant-supported dentures perfectly mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth. Replacing missing teeth, dentures provide an aesthetically natural appearance while restoring chewing and speaking functions.
  3. Preventing Bone Loss: Implants integrate into the jawbone like natural tooth roots, preventing bone loss. Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures protect the health of the jawbone and prevent osteoporosis that may occur over time.
  4. Long-Lasting and Durable: Implant-supported dentures can be used safely for many years with proper care. Implants provide a strong and durable foundation, ensuring that the dentures remain fixed and stable.
  5. Better Chewing Capacity: These dentures offer a function close to the chewing capacity provided by natural teeth. In this way, even hard and difficult foods can be consumed comfortably.
  6. Palate Closure and Speech Correction: Since implant-supported dentures do not cover the palate, they do not cause any problems during speech and provide a more natural speech.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Patients with Complete or Partial Edentition: Implant-supported dentures are an ideal solution for patients who are completely edentulous or have lost several teeth. These dentures are an excellent option to replace lost teeth and provide an aesthetic smile.
  • Patients who are not satisfied with traditional dentures: Patients who complain about the discomfort caused by traditional dentures (such as the denture slipping or moving in the mouth) can get rid of these problems with implant-supported dentures.
  • Patients with Suitable Jaw Bone Density: Patients with sufficient bone density for implant placement can benefit from implant-supported prosthesis treatment. Patients with insufficient bone density can be prepared for treatment with additional surgical procedures such as bone grafting.

Treatment Process

  1. Initial Examination and Planning: The treatment process begins with a comprehensive dental and jaw examination. The dentist evaluates the structure of your jawbone, bone density, and gum health. As a result of this examination, the areas where the implants will be placed and the design of the prostheses are planned.
  2. Implant Placement: Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. A healing period of several months is required for the implants to fuse to the bone. During this time, the patient is provided with temporary prosthetics.
  3. Preparation of Dentures: After the healing process, the dentist takes measurements of the permanent dentures that will be placed on the implants. The dentures are specially prepared in accordance with the patient’s oral structure and aesthetic expectations.
  4. Placement of Prosthetics: The prepared prosthetics are fixed on the implants and final adjustments are made. With the placement of the prosthetics, the patient achieves satisfactory results in terms of both aesthetics and functionality.
  5. Regular Checkups and Maintenance: After the treatment is completed, regular dental checkups will ensure the longevity of implant-supported dentures. Your dentist will guide you on the care of the dentures and implants.
